*bangs head*
Nov. 27th, 2005 11:45 amTechinical trolls continue to torment me. Spent the morning with tech support only to find out that a) verizon help desk doesn't know the real protocol to do a hard reset of my westell modem...that or modem is even more fried than thought possible. Regardless of hitting reset button, my username and password for the control screen would never reset and hence, no internet access. HOwever, after getting off the phone, I did dig up my username and password and was able to configure the modem so I could get wired internet. And then figured I'd just redo the steps to get wireless....except the modem does a flash error every time I got to download the update I think I need...which I don't know if that means that it still has the update that I'd previously loaded or what. So I decided to go ahead and do the bridge settings etc...except the bridge settings weren't sticking. I think I finally got them to stick (too scared to check) and then hooked up my wireless again to see if it works.
Nope. Nada. Zip. I can still connect perfectly to said base, but no internet pages will load. So I've been digging for my second ethernet cable that is buried someplace perfectly logical in my apartment, but I can't find it. I did find the four extra splitters, 3 extra telephone lines, and the usb ethernet cable (which is well and good for connecting to my computer but NOT feasible for connecting to the wireless router. *bangs head*
Have one more thing to try before I give up and call the help desk again. Beginning to suspect that at least the modem might be fried if not the wireless router. But I don't know how to check both for sure. And of course, verizon refuses to help me with the dell wireless router. *rolls eyes* warranties are expired dude, get over yourself. Except oh, I forgot, you don't know anything, you are just reading from the screen.
I'm beyond frustrated and having to be VERY careful to not explode in the direction of anything expensive.
GAAAAAAAH.
At least I know the computer is working since it will connect to most of the other wireless internet (and thank god some people aren't making there's secured. if this gets fixed, I'll be magnaminous and do the same w/ my own....I think).
